Intake Information
The Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County is a limited-intake facility focusing on unwanted and abused dogs and cats, and we never euthanize for time or space. Unfortunately, we can’t take every animal, as the need in our area is so great. Our Intake team is dedicated to providing resources to keep pets in their homes, as well as providing resources to the community for stray pets.
If you are looking for a place to surrender your pet or a pet you have found, complete the form below to request that we accept the animal. Please note that we require fees for animals surrendered to us to help cover the cost of care. PLEASE NOTE: If you believe the pet you want to surrender is pregnant, please let us know that in the surrender form.
Owner Surrender: $50
Owner litter: $100
Stray: $30
Stray litter: $60
Our intake department is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
