Happy Tails, Soapy!
Soapy is an extra social dog who our outreach team took to visit the residents of Belmont Village, a senior assisted-living facility in Memphis, in mid-2023. Unsurprisingly, the staff and residents at Belmont Village instantly fell in love and decided she should be the facility’s new resident pet! Now, Soapy spends her days hanging out with the residents and spreading her love through plenty of cuddles and kisses.
According to the team, Soapy is doing FANTASTIC in her new home! She is not only adored by the staff, but she is great at supporting the well-being of the residents at Belmont Village. Her new, extended family loves spending time with Soapy, from dressing her up to giving her all the pets and love she wants. But their relationship isn’t one-sided; Soapy helps bring the residents out of their shells. One resident in particular rarely left her apartment to socialize. Now, you can often find her spending time with sweet Soapy in the common areas.
Soapy was a dog with a lot of love to give, and now she’s able to spread that love to an entire facility of people who can give it right back. Soapy’s adoption story is just one example of our work in action. At the Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County, we strive to match our pets with the right home to fit their needs, behavior and story. We believe that animals create a special place in our lives and our hearts, and Soapy is doing just that for the residents and staff at Belmont Village.
