Humane Education

The Humane Society’s Community Engagement and Events Manager dedicates time to venture out to educate the community about preventing and reporting animal cruelty, proper animal care, and how to help homeless animals. This includes visits to local schools, appearances in the media, and hosting a summer camp for children each year, to name a few of our outreach efforts.

We always welcome schools or organizations to engage their students in service learning so that they can engage in real-world problem solving while working toward a common goal. Animals at the shelter and in the community benefit from your students’ creativity, passion, and energy.

Some projects we suggest are:

  • Host a coin drive or pet supply drive – help us provide critical care where it is needed with your donations.
  • Craft together – make cozy blankets for animals at the shelter and in foster homes.
  • Make a video or story to teach other kids about kindness and responsible pet care – spread the word and be part of our mission.

If you’d like to suggest a school or organization to have a humane education class or workshop, please contact Savannah Boster at sboster@memphishumane.org or 901-937-3943.
