Humane Society Animal Explorer Summer Camp

Humane Society Animal Explorer Summer Camp

We are happy to announce our dates for our 2019 Humane Society Animal Explorer Summer Camps.

Kids join the HSMSC team for a “hands on” week of activities focused on animal care and animal behavior training.  Camps are held at the HSMSC facility Monday through Friday from 8am to noon.  Kids ages 7-12 are welcome.  Camp dates are:

Week 1: June 3-7

Week 2: June 17-21

Week 3: July 8-12

Week 4: July 22-26

To register, go to our Humane Society Animal Explorer Camp website.

Dive into the world of animal welfare and learn compassion, responsibility, safety and care from Humane Society staff and other knowledgeable experts in the animal field.  Campers will get hands-on experiences with both dogs and cats as they learn about what makes them unique and what they need from us as their caregivers.

Camper activities lead by camp counselors include:

  • Behind the scene tours of the Humane Society
  • Get to know dogs, cats, rabbits and farm animals.
  • Learn how to train a dog, feed a cat, comfort a bunny and pet a reptile.
  • Discover why animals are such an important part of our lives.

Campers will sharpen their observation skills as they learn how animals communicate and rely on humans to be sensitive to their needs.  We have expanded the learning experience with a trip to Shelby Farms Park Conservancy to learn what they do for our community.

The cost to participate in the camp is $200 per session and includes one t-shirt.

Camps are held at the HSMSC facility located on 935 Farm Road, Memphis, TN 38134.
