Low-Income Vaccinations

PLEASE NOTE: We have postponed the May 2nd and all future Vaccine Clinics until further notice.  We apologize for the inconvenience.  We are monitoring the social distancing guidelines issued by the World Health Organization, the Center for Disease Control, and our state and local governments to help us make this decision.  Once guidelines such as the “6 feet apart” and the “no more than 10 people gathered together” are lifted we will reschedule these important community events.  Please understand this decision was made to keep our staff and the people and animals we serve as safe as possible.  If you need vaccines now, we recommend calling your primary veterinarian and schedule an appointment.  If you have any questions, please email Matthew Womack at mwomack@memphishumane.org .

Thanks to the continued generosity of an anonymous donor, we will have more vaccine clinics in 2020! We vaccinated over 630 animals during 2019.  The first clinic of 2020 will be scheduled as soon as the social distancing guidelines are lifted.

HSMSC hosts low-cost vaccination events each year for Shelby County residents who receive government assistance. Supplies are limited and are given on a first-come, first-served basis. These events are hosted as funding permits. If you’d like to be notified via email of future low-cost vaccination events, fill out the form below.  Please fill out the form slowly and make sure you type your email address correctly or you will not receive notification of the event.

Vaccines will be available for $5 per pet, which includes rabies vaccine plus a 4-in-1 shot for dogs and cats. The option to purchase a rabies tag onsite will be available for $6 for spayed/neutered dogs and $16 for intact dogs. Cats do not require a rabies tag or certification. Dogs must be on leash, and cats must be in a carrier. Please bring proof of income qualification.  You will enter the event from the Code Enforcement parking lot (6465 Mullins Station Road) and proceed to the west side of the parking lot, down the gravel road.  There we will have volunteers to help you with paperwork and collecting the $5 per pet donation.  You and your pets will stay in your vehicle during the event to help keep everyone comfortable! We reserve the right to refuse any animal that poses a risk to our staff or volunteers.

Fill out the form below to be notified when we host a low-cost vaccine clinic.

  • Income qualifiers include any of the following:
    • SS: Social Security

    • UE: unemployment benefits
    • FS: food stamps
    • MD: Tenn Care/Medicare/Medicaid
    • WIC
    • RL: Reduced Lunch
    • S8: Section 8 Housing

No animal at the Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County is euthanized for time or space.  This is possible because of the generosity of our supporters.
