When long-time volunteer Renee Pirkey started her new job at St. Agnes Academy, she wanted to share her love and passion for our organization by organizing a fun way for the students to support our mission by collecting donations and learning about tour life saving work. After collecting donations, the girls had an event at the school where they dads in to help make braided dog toys for our Humane Society dogs. Last week, they arrived at the Humane Society with lots of goodies for our dogs. They were then taken on a tour of our facility and learned how to become responsible pet owners.
Classroom programs like this one raise awareness for the needs of injured, abused and neglected animals in Memphis and Shelby County and gives students opportunities to learn about the importance of volunteering and the impact it can have on our community.
