Christy Baioni began volunteering as one of our dog walkers in July of 2015. Since then, she has made a huge impact in the lives of our Humane Society animals and staff. “Many of the animals arrive neglected, fearful and essentially discarded. There is nothing more rewarding than to see them transform into trusting, loving and happy companions. The happiest moments of my week are spent at the Humane Society, especially when I witness one of these little miracles.”
Christy participates in our Humane Society Dog Walking program as our Saturday Night Group Leader. “I was drawn to volunteering in the dog walking program due to a desire to give back to my community and to help rescue and rehabilitate animals in need,” says Christy. Our volunteer group leaders are tasked with making sure our policies are being followed, that dogs and volunteers stay safe and to help teach new volunteers the nuances of walking our dogs. Christy is also one of our carefully selected foster families who cares for our puppies and kittens when they are too young to stay at the shelter. Recently, she fostered a sweet little kitten named Smudge that ended up as part of her family. Even though helping us care for our animals is a big job, she also found time to be part of the volunteer leadership committee to helped us launch our new Humane Society Walk for the Animals event in November of 2018.
Thank you, Christy, for being an important member of our extended Humane Society family!
