Spay & Neuter

Thousands of unwanted puppies and kittens are born in Memphis and Shelby County every year because owners do not spay or neuter their pets. These animals often grow up to be abused, neglected, abandoned or sick. We want to stop the cycle of overpopulation by helping pet owners spay or neuter their pets. Our spay/neuter program enables pet owners to have their pet spayed or neutered for a cost of $50. Here’s how.

Step 1
Your cat or dog should be at least six-months old and up-to-date with vaccinations. If vaccines are not current, make an appointment with a vet. You will be required to have proof of vaccinations at time of the procedure.

Step 2
Visit our offices at 935 Farm Road, Tuesday – Friday: 10 am – 6 pm, Sat: 10 am – 5 pm and Sunday: 1 pm – 5 pm (closed Mondays). You can choose from a list of participating vets (see below), and we will schedule your appointment. You will pay $50 to the Humane Society and receive a certificate for the vet you have selected.

Step 3
You will take your pet, your certificate and proof of vaccination to the veterinary clinic at the appointed time.

NOTE: For pets over 50 lbs, there could be an additional fee that is determined at the time of the vet appointment. Each vet service may have a different fee structure for animals over 50 lbs.
