HSMSC Takes in Dog Shot at Close Range

HSMSC Takes in Dog Shot at Close Range

Your help is needed!  Yesterday, Jilly, a precious 8 year old black lab, came to our intake after being found with a deep wound on her back. Upon further investigation and x-rays, we realized that she had been shot in the back at extremely close range with a shotgun. Jilly is blessed that the bullet did not shatter her spine.

This morning, she had surgery to remove the buckshot. However, some of the pellets were embedded too deep in the muscle. She is currently resting comfortably with lots of pain meds and a drainage tube to allow additional draining, which will be flushed every day. Jilly has several weeks of recovery ahead of her. Yesterday, even with a gaping wound on her back, she was full of happiness and tail wags. She is an absolute angel and has already stolen the hearts of our staff. If you would like to help with Jilly’s medical expenses, please share and donate: http://bit.ly/2iAEgv1 or call 901-937-3903.
