Colby is Reunited with his Family

At the Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County, we have a cruelty investigator that responds to situations reported by the public.  In response of a trapped dog report, we found Colby.
Once we brought Colby to the Humane Society, we discovered that he had been stolen and then lost.  Through his microchip, we were able find his home and provide a happy homecoming after six long years away.
In this season of giving and thankfulness, please take a moment to read the story of Colby:
On November 22, Investigator Guice responded to a report of a trapped animal.  The callers could hear whimpers but could not locate the source.  Later that day, Colby was rescued after being trapped for several days in a drainage ditch on Tutwiler Ave.  He was emaciated and dehydrated but in good spirits.
Fortunately, he had a microchip.  The phone number wasn’t good anymore, but we managed to find his owners and arrange for their reunion. The Graddy family said Colby was stolen 6 years ago, along with a female Weimaraner, on New Years Eve.  She was recovered after 2 years and recently passed due to old age.  Now, they are ecstatic to welcome Colby back home.  Colby’s reunion shows the importance of microchipping, something that is included in each adoption fee.
